Student Success Program, Individualized Learning Plans and Differentiated Lessons
St. Anastasia teachers offer a variety of learning experiences for every child. Through differentiated lessons in all classrooms and leveled ELA and Math classes in grades 5-8, teachers produce lessons with a variety of expectations and outcomes in content, process, and product. Our dedicated and experienced teachers, learning specialists and paraprofessionals work collaboratively to help all students become successful, life-long learners.
In addition to creative and differentiated classroom lessons, St. Anastasia Catholic School offers extra support to students through our Student Success Program. The goal of our Student Success Program is to identify and create individual learning plans for students who require additional assistance in learning. Learning resource teachers work closely with classroom teachers and parents to identify and evaluate students with unique abilities. Once those students and needs are identified, an Individual Learning Plan is established which will enable students to achieve their fullest potential.
Students in grade K-2 who are identified with unique abilities receive additional assistance from a resource teacher inside and outside of the classroom. They also receive classroom accommodations, according to their Individual Learning Plan. Students in grade 1-4 who are identified as needing intensive reading support participate in pull-out, intensive reading classes during the school day in addition to the extra assistance and accommodations they receive inside the classroom.
Grade 5 is considered a transition year for students with unique learning abilities. Teachers in grade 5 continue to support identified students, while providing more opportunities for independent reading and learning activities. Our 5th grade Reading Resource teacher pushes-in to the classroom to assist the classroom teacher in providing support and guidance for students with specific learning needs. These students will continue to receive classroom accommodations as noted in their Individual Learning Plan.
We continue to support students with unique learning abilities in grades 6-8 as they become independent learners. Students who are identified with unique learning abilities are provided with classroom accommodations, as noted in their Individual Learning Plan and, according to their unique learning abilities, students will be placed into one of three leveled classes for ELA and Mathematics.
We are proud to offer Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy services on campus to all qualifying students in grades Pre-K through 8th grade. St. Anastasia Catholic School employs two Speech and Language Pathologists who work with students who are identified with a need for speech therapy, language therapy, and voice and fluency disorders. Occupational Therapy is performed on campus, in and out of the classrooms during the school day, by licensed Occupational Therapists. Teachers and therapists communicate regularly with each other, providing the best progression for each child.
The faculty and staff of St. Anastasia Catholic School are dedicated to the success of all students. Classroom Teachers, Learning Resource Teachers and Paraprofessionals work collaboratively to help differentiate learning and to provide students with a variety of resources and support for this success.
